Classroom Grants and Discretionary Funds

Suncoast also understands that behind each outstanding student lies a legacy of gifted teachers whose guidance and counsel provides a shining path to a better tomorrow. The Suncoast for Kids Foundation helps our teachers by allowing these often unsung heroes to apply for grants to help pay for innovative education programs that would otherwise by shelved due to a lack of tax-dollar funding

In addition to providing scholarships and grants, the Suncoast for Kids Foundation also helps financially challenged students by allowing school principals to apply for discretionary funds which are designed to help students in areas such as field trips, band or sports uniforms, insurance and other basic needs.

“Around the World in a Pizza Box.”

Like all great teachers, Joyce Cordell wants the best for her students. This year she engaged her second grade class in a creative project that combined arts, crafts and research in a way that made learning geography and social studies fun. Mrs. Cordell had the idea and the passion, but she needed funding to bring her idea to life.  Through the Suncoast for Kids Grant Program, Mrs. Cordell was able to apply for the funding to make this creative project a reality for her students.

“Our Country's Future Leaders.”

Lt. Col. Paul Garrah believes that his students in Golden Gate High School Junior ROTC class are among the finest our country has to offer. That’s why he wanted to take these standout achievers from Naples, Florida to Washington DC in the Spring of 2009. The trip was sure to be memorable, but the cost was a challenging obstacle. The Suncoast for Kids Foundation Grants Program made it possible.
